BYMBE #2 – Agosto 2019

Sharing our resources and spreading the word!

As the BYMBE project comes to an end, we are working hard to share the resources we have developed together to support professionals providing guidance, empowerment and support to Young NEET Mothers.

We have collaborated and refined our ideas for the past 2 years, and are excited to release our final tools for use to bring Young Mothers back to education across Europe!

We have extended our work to include Annexes for the Orientation Pack, the Empowerment Pack and the Support Pack where professionals can read about:

- the challenges we met when we applied the BYMBE approaches we developed

- the adaptations we made to best meet the characteristics and needs of our target groups

- our recommendations for implementing the activities

A long-term commitments comes to an end!

During these 2 years we worked with Young Mothers and professionals working with them.
On our website, you can find an overview of the activities where we used the BYMBE resources:

  • International Training in Oviedo, Spain – to improve the competencies of social workers and trainers to apply the intervention methods developed by BYMBE to Young Mothers,
  • Training for professionals in the partner countries – to train other social workers, teachers and trainers to the BYMBE methods and improve their skills.
  • Activities for young mothers – to provide orientation, empowerment and support to groups of Young Mothers through the BYMBE methods, stimulating peer support.

On BYMBE website, you can find an overview of these activities for each partner country.

Share the BYMBE message!

Too many girls still drop out of school prematurely. Among them Young Mothers are the ones more likely to never return to education, since they are expected to stay at home and tend to young children and other household chores. When their educational attainments are low, their chances to find a job are low and lead them to stay dependent from others: their families, their significant others, charities, the welfare system of their country. One additional education year can increase a woman's earnings, making the difference in their future.

BYMBE project partners have been promoting young mothers’ education through their channels engaging people and stakeholders in partner countries and in Europe in sharing messages about the importance of education and the reality of young girls lacking access to basic education.

We will keep our efforts to fully help Young NEET Mothers get the education they want and deserve, but we need your support to expose more and more people to these messages and keep our campaign alive.
