BYMBE: National Education and Support Services for young mothers

Which are the difficulties young mothers face in continuing or re-entering education?

And how is it possible for social workers to build an effective relationship and support them in going back to education?

The second partnership meeting and the International Training “Train-the-trainers” of project BYMBE – Bringing Young Mothers Back to Education took place from 10 to 16 March in Oviedo (Spain).

The project aims to develop training tools supporting work of social workers, teachers and trainers to support young mothers aged between 15 and 25 in reentering school, vocational education and training or labour world.

The young mothers involved in the project will took part into personal and professional development  activities, benefiting from training, guidance and counseling meetings with social workers and trainers.

During the meeting in Oviedo partners have been presented with the preliminary results of the research about the National Education and Support Services for young mothers in Italy, Spain, Ireland, Lithuania, Bulgaria and Austria.

The finalized Report will be soon available on www.bymbe.eu. Partners have also selected the materials for the motivational and raising-awareness campaign of the project, which will be launched in April 2018.

10 trainers from the partner countries have taken part to the International Training “train-the-trainer” and had the opportunity to acquire new skills regarding:

  • approaching young mothers,
  • supporting in defining a learning plan,
  • including mothers in an holistic development path,
  • risk management.

In May 2018 project partners will held national trainings addressed to social worker, youth workers, educators, teachers and trainersinterested in developing their skills in approaching young mothers.
